We just celebrated Thanksgiving. One thing I really enjoyed this year was the way many of you for the past month put things every day that you’re thankful for. What a great exercise to remind ourselves and others of how much we have and how gracious our God is.
However what I found interesting, and there’s nothing wrong with this, but almost all of the reasons for thanksgiving were blessings from God (I.e. my family, my spouse, my parents, my kids, my church, my freedom, my calling).
And all of these are excellent reasons for thanksgiving. But what I found missing (with a few exceptions) and what makes the opening of James little letter so shocking is this idea that we should be thankful for trials! Let's look at James 1:1-4.
