Following the death of Joshua, the nation of Israel went into a spiritual tailspin and decline morally, socially and politically. Joshua had led the people with the deliverance, protection and provision of God into the Promised Land. They experienced great victory by faith and devastating defeat by their own self sufficiency. Joshua dies and the next generation turns their back on the God of Israel. Judges 2: 10, "And there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel."
