Growing up, I remember giving my mom giving me a lot of gardening jobs. Living in Mississippi, she would often make me get up early in the morning to beat the heat of the day. One day, I decided to show my mother how much I appreciated her, so I got up bright and early (on my own) and planted some flowers she had purchased for the garden. I couldn't wait until she got up and saw the work that I had done for her. When she finally came outside, she asked me, "What are you doing?" "I'm planting the flowers for you!" I responded. She said, "But, that's not where I wanted those planted..."
Sometimes we try to help God out by taking things into our own hands. In this morning's message, we find Abraham trying to "help God out" and the results of his misstep.
