Psalm 103:13 says, "Like as a Father pitieth (has compassion) on his children, so the Lord pitieth (has compassion) on them that fear him." Another Psalm says that even if your Father and Mother abandon you, we have a Father who will pick you up and will never abandon you. For those of us who had good Fathers, what a blessing! What an example they set for us! Even if we did not have a good example, Christian men need to be a good example through the power of Christ.
Often when we think of Father's day gifts, we think about ugly neck ties and argyle sock and things that men pretend to be excited about. I saw a card one time that said, "Happy Fathers Day to a dad whose advice on frugality comes in very handy when shopping for Father's Day gifts." Someone said, "What is Father's day to a little child. It's much like another mother's day only you don't need to spend as much." As men we're OK with that because we know we are going to pay the credit card bill anyway. We do appreciate expressions of love from our children and wives on Father's day. This Father's Day we're not going to talk about gifts that you get for your Father and give to your Father. But, we're going to talk about a gift that comes from your Father.
