Every person in this room this morning struggles with certain emotions. Why? Because you’re a person, because you’re human.
We don’t all act out our emotions the same way.
I heard about a husband who said to his wife:
When I get mad at you, you never fight back. How do you control your anger?
Wife: Well, I clean the toilets.
Husband: How does that help?
Wife: I use your toothbrush.
We all have emotions that we struggle with—whether it’s anger or worry, anxiety or depression.
And it’s easy for us to blame those emotions on our environment, our workplace, our family, our circumstances in life.
The Bible says, “It’s not what’s outside us that causes this turmoil. It’s what’s on the inside.”
