The animated movie Antz is the story of a neurotic worker ant who is trying to win the love of a princess ant. But at the end of the movie the camera pans out to show the audience that all of the action has been taking place in a little patch of Central Park in the heart of New York City. The audience can consider the parallels between the lives of the ants and the lives of the real people around them.
I think that often we get so busy with our work, our job responsibilities, grinding out our week-to-week and day-to-day tasks, that we never zoom out and look at the bigger picture. And ask ourselves “Why do I work? What is the meaning of my work?”
And as we started to see last time—there is a bigger picture.
Work is more not just a necessary evil, a paycheck. Work is intrinsically good.
How do we know that? Because God created work. God is the 1st worker in Gen. 1:1.
But not only is God is a worker, we also see in the very beginning of the Bible that God created you to be a worker.
