Anderson's local newspaper, the Herald Bulletin, contacted the church about a sermon series our pastors preached last April on peace, after Indiana was ranked 24th in peace by the U.S. Peace Index. The sermons were actually part of a larger series on the Fruits of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23. In January, we introduced the series. In February, we looked at the first fruit, Love. In March, we studied Joy. And in April, Peace, and so forth.
Pastor Josh spoke to a reporter from the Herald Bulletin about the theological implications of peace. For instance Ephesians 2 lays the foundation of making peace with God through the blood of Christ. And by Ephesians 4, Christians are called to be "peace makers." We looked at how often Christians choose to be "peace breakers" who enjoy conflict or "peace fakers" who avoid conflict, rather than "peace makers" who are willing to confront problems, but speak the truth in love.
